You so damn lucky.
You get to be in New Orleans, Louisiana. Home of the hits.
Tonight you can go to a benefit for the Dinerral Shavers foundation and hear the best brass bands in the world. My friend Will said in about 1996: "Rebirth is the best brass band in New Orleans. That means they're the best brass band in the world.". Personally, I'm liking the brashness of the Hot 8 more as of late, and Bennie Pete, my man, just rocks the llama's ass. Anyway, judge for yourself, as they'll both be there, along with the Soul Rebels.
If brass bands ain't your thing (freak), then you can go to Tip's and see a tribute for former Krewe du Vieux royalty Al "Carnival Time" Johnson featuring Bonerama and the best rock band ever to come out of Chicago, OK Go.
Kirk Joseph, creator of the fabulous "Backyard Groove" CD, suffered a heart attack. He's not doing that great, but he's not in imminent danger. Give him your love and your prayers. Kirk's only 46 years old, y'all. To your left is a pic of Kirk and LisaPal.
Finally, WWOZ has a rocking new website design. From there, I found that Ernie K. Doe has a new hit! Yep, it's not enough that the Emperor of the Universe got some time in the first episode of The Wire last week. Oh no, not for K-Doe. A British drugstore chain called Boots is using Here Come the Girls.
Burn K-Doe Burn.
In any case, go out tonight and celebrate the music of the greatest city in the whole damned world. I'll leave you with two videos: the first of the British K-Doe commercial, and the second, the greatest most infectious you tube video of all time starring OK Go.
This is the way we live.........................................

I tried the Pumpkin Spice latte and hated it!Have fun in New Orleans! ~ Depending on where you are staying, you can run at Audubon Park. Very ptrtey and there is a 2 mile loop. (I think it's 2 miles)If you will be in the French Quarter, I recommend getting a muffaletta at Central Grocery and eating it on the River Walk. It's a great place to people watch & enjoy the day especially if the weather is nice.

I really liked the first two books in this seiers so I put my name down for this book at the library straight away as soon as I heard about it. I did find the release to be a bit low key really.
