This Friday, January 11, there will be a benefit for the Dinerral Shavers educational fund. Silence is Violence is sponsoring two events to remind New Orleans that it was one year ago that citizens of New Orleans, fed up with the incompetence of the mayor, the DA, and the Chief of Police, decided to take to the streets and let everyone know we were fed up.
Friday, noon: Memorial and press conference, steps of City Hall, 1300 Perdido St.
Friday, 9:00 p.m.: Concert at the Howlin' Wolf. Performers include the Hot 8 Brass Band, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Shamarr Allen, and the Rabouin Marching Band. Tickets cost $15 and will benefit the Dinerral Shavers Educational Fund.
We need your support.
And for the most anticipated musical release in a long time: The Blind Boys of Alabama's new studio album, Down In New Orleans, featuring the Hot 8 Brass Band, will hit stores on January 29, 7 days before Fat Tuesday.
I'm in line to buy it when it drops. Thanks Herr Perfessor.
