So I got a call from a friend at 4:00 this morning asking if I got hit by the tornado. No, I told him. We heard it, but it didn't even move the unread Times-Picayune out of the yard.
He got hit.
I drove over there, and his windows were blown out. Other houses near him had lost their roofs, and one house was literally blown off its foundation. Power lines everywhere.
I could stand in the middle of Willow Street, and from Hillary facing downtown, there was no apparent damage. From Hillary facing the parish line, it was utter darkness.
There were powerlines and powerpoles down in the roads.
My lovely wife took these pics this morning on the way back from taking child #1 to school.
Sad thing is, it's still kinda hard to tell where the hurricane damage ends and the tornado damage begins.
Your friends are in my thoughts. I have the feeling that some of them are my friends too.

I compiled a map on Google Earth from all of the touchdown locations in the paper and put it up on my blog. Click on it for a larger view, you can also access it directly here: http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger/2652/1636/1600/1657/tornado%20path.jpg

I thought of y'all as soon as I saw the tornado's path on the news (and then promptly forgot to call-- sorry). I'm glad y'all are okay.

I'm glad you're okay. Hell, I'm glad you have enough electricity to tell us you're okay.

Looking at the graphic on the front page of today's TP....That dashed line passes right over my house (and the FEMA trailers my extended family members were sleeping in) a couple of blocks before it touches back down at Franklin. And I had no clue until I turned on the TV......
