I'm surprised the Houstonians aren't blaming the "evil sodomizing teen" on the Katrina refugees stuck there.
Hmmm...maybe it's living in Houston that makes one insane enough to want to sodomize another with a patio umbrella...or maybe it's that Houstonians are just plain evil.
Or maybe, just maybe, I'm stereotyping. Maybe New Orleanians that relocated to Houston are by and large good people, and the Houstonians that are generally accepting of them are good people as well.
Nyaahhhh...where's the ink in that.
NPR did a really good report on Houston and Katrina evacuees in their "One Year Later" series. I wish I could provide a link to the podcast. But this is the closest I can get. You can find it using iTunes. And its free. So that's cool.

Having lived in Houston following Katrina, I think I can attest to the fact no matter how miserable I was, I never once considered sodomizing anyone. That said, I have no hard feelings leaving the place as soon as I could. A concrete hell was never more cleverly devised.
