I can't believe this. NOLA has voluntarily pulled out of the running for the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
Voluntarily.
Why?
According to talking head New Orleans Convention and Tourism President Steve Perry, NOLA could not get enough corporate backing.
Fuck off, Steve.
One of two things happened: 1) either the Democrats let Perry know that nobody cared about NOLA anymore, and the alleged publicity coup for saying "it wouldn't have happened on our watch" now means dick; or, 2) Perry just fucking wimped out, caved under the pressure, and the Democrats ain't too happy about the chance to show that they actually care about all of America.
Why the fuck couldn't Perry just go back to singing for Journey, and leave the tough decisions to the adults?
Oh yeah, I forgot, we're in New Orleans, and the adults aren't in charge...
Update: possibility 3: It's all Kos's fault.
Update 2: The Post's take.
Update 3: And they're licking their chops, celebrating our demise in Denver.
Update 4: No Fish, No Nuts gives the exactly correct plan of action for the Democratic party. Of course, being Democrats, they'll find a way to blow it. Thanks as always to scout prime.
Update 5: Perry is a lying fuckmook. "We're completely open and operating," Perry says. "Jazz Fest had a half-million people. This week marks the launch of three major conventions. The hospitality industry here is not only open, but it is thriving. The tourism experience is already back to normal."
sans mustache = sans dems?
wtf? please follow this story. there has to be more to it.
steveie boy has been on the radio begging for money since katrina saying he could turn a mil into a bil what changed?

From the Denver post: "I think many worried New Orleans would draw a sympathy vote."
Jerks.
And from Perry - "The tourism experience is already back to normal."
Idiot.

Thanks to you Ashley, this little melody will probably be rattling around in my head all day. So I thought I'd just share the love:
Here we stand
Worlds apart
Hearts broken in two, two, two
Sleepless nights
Losing ground
I'm reaching for you, you, you
Feelin' that it's gone
Can't change your mind
If we can't go on
To survive the tide
Love divides
Yeah, what a sorry ass excuse. Isn't that his job? To secure corporate sponsors? I mean, we're talking *THE* Democratic National Convention. Since when have Democrats turned away corporate sponsors?!!!

Thanks a lot, Schroeder buddy.
That damned song was one of the first I had to work out on keyboards in a cover band. E minor, as I recall. That, along with Blue Collar Man, Eyes Without a Face, Walk of Life, and Movin' in Stereo.
But I really hated the Journey.
My suggestion is for everybody to follow the link to No fish, no nuts, and follow his link to email Howard Dean.

If the tourist experience is back to normal why is every waiter I know (and I know a lot, did it for more than twenty years here) starving to death?
I think you nailed it, fuckmook indeed!
