That's my new title, from Harry's Blog. Probably go on my tombstone. My IEEE-fellow advisor told me I should give up this Computer Science stuff, and make a huge living in France. I'd be the next Jerry Lewis. I'll tell you why not, because I'm up for a sabbatical next year, and then and only then can I complete my mime training.
Anyhoo...
USA Today can bite me. Why don't these idiots just stick to charts and graphs, rather than make sense out of those 26 little squiggly things that happen between the pictures? Why a) do we get screwed and not get at least the same treatment as NYC, and b) not get the same treatment that the S&L people got, courtesy of people like Neil Bush.
Evacuee nails Chertoff to a cross. Jeez, I thought this guy was just a general incompetent, I didn't think that he was as evil as the rest of the administration. Chertoff called Katrina "one of the most difficult and traumatic experiences of my life". What a pompous ass. Read how Evacuee rips him a new one.
Da Paper has a nice editorial on how people might not have died had someone cared enough to cut short his one month vacation. Geez, is this guy the slacker poster child or what? Brags that he doesn't read the paper, that he was a drunk frat boy, that....I give up. Why do we glorify mediocrity so? Except when it comes to mimes, that is.
Schroeder talks about the House report. Even though the committee was allegedly non-partisan, they slam everyone. And they're right...blame goes everywhere. However, these basic facts remain: 1) had the levees been designed properly, hundreds would have lived, and NOLA would probably be about 95% functional right now; 2) the administration is directly responsible for hundreds of deaths, by putting Brownie in charge of an agency that is critical to human life.
There are still 3 of my friends that are missing. Some reports have over 3200 missing, and others have about 500 people washed out to sea.
Dear God, help us.
A compliment from Harry Shearer is certainly an honor.
And the point about the levees is well taken...except that, like so much else in the up-is-down, war-is-peace reality these days, it seems to get lost. Too many idiot-fucks (to borrow a term from the late, great Bill Hicks) refuse to let the facts get in the way of their already-made-up-minds. And as for the the top leadership...is it just me, or does the media DELIBERATELY obfuscate another real fact--Smirk-Chimp and Big Time were neither in DC nor in the field, LEADING...and it wasn't like they didn't know what was about to happen. It was only the largest storm to hit the Gulf Coast since Camille, and, at least right before it hit, was looking like the largest storm in recorded history. This was KNOWN. THEY CHOSE to ignore it.
Idiot-fucks.

Outstanding.
And you play drums, right? Maybe you could a get with Tap.

Man, I am not usually so incoherent.
Two hour layover in Houston will do that to you.
"get a gig with Tap".

Man, what I wouldn't give to be a tap dancer. 7 leg surgeries, along with assorted plates, screws, rods, and pins kind of put me off of that Gregory Hines career track.
As for the idiot-fucks, man, the only consensus they've come to is that Brownie didn't do a heckuva job. Of course, W appointed him. So, the buck stops...where?
And from Bill Hicks, he wasn't talking about the current administration, but he might as well have been: "How are we going to come to a consensus? You wanna the arguments around my house: 'They're annoying, they're idiots.' 'They're evil, they're fucks!' Brothers, sisters, come together! Can't we once just join hands and think of them as evil-annoying-idiot-fucks? I beseech you."

Sorry to disappoint you, but the Jerry Lewis thing in France is a huge myth. He's never really been popular over there, and nobody under the age of 30 has even heard of him:

Don't give up the computer work... :)

Sacrement! No Jerry Lewis cult! Tabernacle!
Wait, that's Quebecois...hmmm...
Next thing, you'll be telling me that the Germans don't like David Hasselhoff... :^)

I guess you haven't read http://realnews.org - I'm still wondering why Allbaugh and Brown aren't being prosecuted like Libby. They perjured themselves before congress, and it looks like they could get Brown on fraud or something similar at the IAHA.
