Leah Chase at Sam's Club

I got a new cookbook by the amazing Ms. Leah. While I was at the check out, the cashier told me excitedly "Did you know that the president ate at Dooky Chase when he was here?" Seeing my blank stare she added "You know - the president! He requested it". I continued my blank stare because I just did not know what to tell her. Should I tell her that I don't give a damn where the idiot ate or if he ate at all. I don't really care that he was here because in my opinion, the only place where he should be (other than the obvious) is on his ranch, falling from a bicycle. On the other hand, yeah - who would not want to eat at Dooky Chase's? I paid, got my cookbook, and went to get some Middle East gas for $4.00 a gallon.

Old news

I am generally busy these days with the kids, paperwork, finances and such.
However, tonight, after dinner, I picked up some old newspaper on the table. My mom was using the computer so I had to read for change. I was reading the New Orleans section from Sat. April 26 (don't ask my why it is here, got no clue). Anyway, I did not realize the paper is so entertaining. When we lived in Chicago, we read Onion (fake news). This news is real but equally absurd - the city is paying millions more to waste management companies because many addresses are listed double and some even don't exist. On another note I learned that the Corps(es) were stuffing the flood walls with newspaper. This is in 2006. The chief public affairs officer responded "you had a lot of work being done to get things up to snuff". I laughed so hard. Did not know that stuffing flood walls with newspaper was considered getting things up to snuff after a major flood.
I got to start reading the paper again. It is really absurd humor. So I guess I am gonna look for some inflatable raft and a stack of newspaper. Love this city.

Awkward party favor

Katerina's birthday was a great success. The little kid was soooo happy to have all of her friends, uncles and aunts around her. THANK YOU. And of course, being 6 (hurray!) she was all about the presents. STUFF! Well, she is sitting here in her princess PJs surrounded by make up, beads, games, paints, books and other assorted kid-size happiness. She is happy.

On the other note, this was apparently in the goodie bag:

I would like to publicly apologize. I DID NOT KNOW. It said "party fan". They did not say it was a Pentecostal party.... sorry.

Katerina's news

OK, my big girl is turning 6 this Sunday. We will have a smallish birthday party for her. The theme is cupcakes and ice cream. Girly. All of you with babies (or without) are invited, please DO come. I still have most of the keg here and the beer finally settled and does not foam. Hurray! Also - Katerina graduated from Kindergaden today. She got her diploma and all. Growing fast. I know Ash was so proud of her today. See you Sunday at 2 pm at our house.

Ashley's home page is gone

DePaul pulled Ashle's home page. No more professor Che. For some reason I always think that the work he did both here and at DePaul was more important than time or death. And then they prove me wrong.
I really hate when he is being erased from history.

Knife holder

As many of you know by now, Ashley's nickname was Knife. Well, I was looking for a hair bow holder this morning and I found "knife holder". Just thought I would share:
