I am so sorry for your loss.
Please let us know if we can do ANYTHING for you. There is a thread on the league board, so please don't hesitate to ask. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Wow, I came by here from First Draft. 'Till today, I never knew this man. As a long time lover and not frequent enough visitor to New Orleans, I can learn a little bit about a great man, father, lover and friend. This may be presumptuous, but the world may smaller with his leaving but much larger with his having been here.

Oh no!- Soviet Block ! This is awful and so unexpected! I am so sorry. Please, please lean on all of us Big Easy Roller Girls and let us know what we can do for you and your children. Please take advantage of all the sisters you have in BERG - I can only imagine it must be so hard to just keep on functioning/ doing simple everyday things.I think I speak for all of us when I say whatever we can do to help, we will. 504-339-4702.You are in all our thoughts and prayers , sweetie. We love you!-Galfreaka/Tanya

I am stunned and saddened. I will miss the out-of-the-blue e-mails about the strangest subjects that always seemed to arrive when I needed to be encouraged or challenged. I will miss Ashley a ton.

Hana,
So very very sorry to hear this.
Ashley's blog has given me many hours of bellylaughs, gnashing of teeth, and full out snorts.

I miss him already

karl elvis

I'm so very, very sorry. Words fail me.

I am so very sorry for your loss. The City of New Orleans has lost someone truly special.

We never met in real life, only through the internet, but I always enjoyed Ashley's writings. I will miss him. My condolences to you and your family, Hana.

Who dat, Ashley.
Sinn Fein, Ashley.

Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I did not know Ashley, I merely stumbled upon his blog about 18 months ago when I returned to NOLA post-K (and became a regular daily reader). While I often disagreed with him, I always admired his passion for life and love...it came through clearly in his writings and he will be sorely missed. I will pray for you and your family in dealing with such an incomprehensible loss.

Daryl

Hana,

Words can not express how sorry we are about Ashley and for your current situation.
We are hoping to pull together an event that would serve as a "Wake" for Ashley and as a fundraiser for you and the kids - KDV has offered the use of the den. I'll keep trying to get through to you by phone or you can reach us via email. XOXO Daryl and the Goldens

Hana,

I only knew Ashley by way of Ray. Even so, I felt he was a brother because he loved New Orleans with his whole soul. His FYYFF post lifted the spirits of those of us "on the outside." If there is anything I can do, just holler. Please consider leaving the blog up.

I didn't know your husband and I just found his blog but ... I'm SORRY. You're so close to me in Florida. Damn shame we never met.
It takes some time.
Take good care of yourself.

I'm so sorry !!

Oh Hana... I'm so very sad. Ashley will be sorely missed by all of us in the online community, and I know that you and the kids are devastated. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Slimbolala

I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I never met Ashley, only knew of him through his blog - but he had such a unique voice, and such great love for this city. He will be missed.

Deb

Hana - my heart to you. I only knew him through his contributions to this and other blogs - what a spirit! My prayers and protection to you and the kids. I will keep his blog on my blog roll because he was my kind of man too!! I read my "FeedBlitz" today and I didn't get it. Alan Gutierrez paid such a tribute to Ashley and it never occurred to me why (too tied up in my own shit this year, if I'm honest). Like Alan, today I decided as in Ashley's "FYYFF," blog, I don't care.

People like Ashley were part of why I felt I had to, and why I came to NOLA. I had no money to donate to schools or hospitals or anything - just me and a proud heart that understood. I gave what I could and I'm so damn glad I did.

Ashley had a proud heart - strong, vocal and unapologetic. He loved and believed in the "rightness of the thing" and for that, there's a place in my heart for him always. I will forever remember.

Never met him, wish I had, but know that he touched a lot of damn people, just as I'm sure he touched you.

Take care Chere

I'm so sorry. You guys are deep in my heart and thoughts right now. I'm coming into town tomorrow and will be in touch. Until then if there's anything I can do - I emailed you my cell number.

I am so sorry. I just stumbled across this. If you need a lawyer just to talk about stuff please do not hesitate to email me for contact information.

The minute I read the post, I started to cry, though I only knew Ashley as a blogger. The best blogger...His love for you and his family, his love of life were overwhelming. He will be missed more than he could ever know.

My prayers are with you.

Breny

It's taken 3 days for me to be able to write a comment. I couldn't think of words that could express the loss and sadness I feel.

I never met Ashley and for that I am a poorer person. He was my favorite NOLA blogger. I read FYYFF and I was hooked. I remember when he got his Saints tattoo and hoped I'd see him at a game one day and be able to admire it in person.

Hana, family, and friends, your loss is the world's loss. My heart aches for you and you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for sharing him with us. We are all richer for it.

The most worthy Karen Gadbois, she of Squandered Heritage, has set up (or at least linked to) the Ashley Morris Family Fund. Details at:

On a completely unrelated note (?), Zatarain's rice mixes suddenly returned to my local market this weekend after an absence of a year and a half! Of course Ash would sooner have moved to Houston than eat anything that came out of a box, but in Honolulu, Zat's might as well be food porn. Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight?

A major voice in the New Orleans blogosphere has gone silent, widowing a Rollergirl and orphaning three tiny children. As various local groups prepare a benefit we see major obstacles looming for the family including five figure expenses for the funeral. Please give what you can, even a few dollar here and there can mount up. There are needs that cannot wait on the fund raising events.

Please join the efforts of HumidCity, Defend New Orleans, NOLA RIsing, WTUL, Tales of the Cocktail, The Big Easy Rollergirls, The Skull Club, L'Art Noir, and many more as we show the Morris Family what community really means!

Online Donations can be made at Remember Ashley Morris:

If you wish to mail a donation make the check out to Hana Morris and send it to:

Wow this was shocking news. My deepest regards to the family. I enjoyed reading Ashley's thoughts and continued to do so even after my campaign.

He and his insights will truly be missed.

You all are in my prayers and if there is something I can do, please let me know.
