I'm the cult of; I'm the cult of; I'm the cult of...

Good Lord.

$cientology is not mainstream. Scientology is an evil brainwashing cult that kills its own members. Time magazine called it "The Thriving Cult of Greed and Power".

Now, these mooks are trying to be "first responders", and infiltrating Christian churches.

When I went to get my vasectomy, there were about 500 $cientology brochures lying around. The "personality test" scam. I recycled them.

Germany has it right: kick the bastards out. Tax them to death. Fight their litigousness with better litigation.

They are evil. They are frightening. They are a cult, and they prey on the weak.

FLILF

Not since E. Buzz Miller has a reference to Titian been this funny.

It's an acronym AND a palindrome!

Update: another source for the video...here, too.

Right now, I really want some shrimp & grits.

Saints video potpourri

You can even smell the patchouli! Actually, my brain is full, and I can't even wrap my head around NOLA politics right now, except to say Shelley was right. So here is a cavalcade of New Orleans Saints videos.

The Saints Are Coming

Oh, and no booing Carney this week!

Waiting for the Reverend

Man, I wish I didn't have 3 full time jobs.  Tonight, the Reverend Horton Heat is playing at the House of Blues.  I saw him a few times, including at the Chimes in Red Stick.  An amazing show.

And friday night, you gots to see this: Wendell Pierce, formerly of Pontchartrain Park and The Wire, is appearing in Waiting for Godot

From the show website: Four free site-specific outdoor evening performances of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot will take place over two weekends in November in two New Orleans neighborhoods — the middle of an intersection in the Lower Ninth Ward, and the front yard of an abandoned house in Gentilly.
November 2 & 3, N Roman St & Forstall St., Lower Ninth Ward, 7:00PM
November 9 & 10, Robert E Lee Blvd & Pratt Dr., Gentilly, 7:00PM

The package

In this article by Michael Lewis (aka Mr Tabitha), Mr Lewis talks about being at the Tom Dempsey 63-yarder game (like about 700,000 of us), and mentions that Adam Vinatieri takes little credit for being clutch.

Vinatieri says he went to the Colts partially because of the quality of the holder and the snapper.

Hmmm...last year we still had Houser as the snapper, but Jamie Martin was the holder, not Steve Weatherford.

Oh, and rock solid John Carney was the kicker, not Olindo Mare. There's that.

H/T Cajunboy.

Christmas in Hollis, Thomas

It's a few months early, but hey, we've won 3 in a row. Celebrate, dammit! There's room for everyone!

To quote Jim Valvano: "Don't give up, don't ever give up".

Torn

No, not this guy:

But this one:

Howzabout this: Beerman runs one back, and the Saints still kick the 69ers lame butt.

Deal?

and read what the Beerman has to say about the game. Class.

Update: my sister/mother claims to have slept with Rip Torn. Hell, look at him. *HE* may be my father...somebody has to be...somewhere. She said that he was the most famous person she ever slept with, eclipsing Bob Weir and Peter Coyote. She also lived next door to Ornette Coleman, but I dunno if they had a thang.

Also: There's even more Beerman stories. Hint: if you ever want to get me a present, here are viable options: 1) Van Halen tix, 2) Agent Orange concert tix, 3) Saints Superbowl tix, 4) a Beerman All-Pro jersey.

Frightening

All Ashley, all the time...

If you're not doing anything, check me out on the BBC Newshour tonight between 21:00 and 21:20 GMT.  They're interviewing me and a few other chaps and chappettes about the similarities and differences between: wildfires and levee failures; rich folks and po' folks; 55 electoral votes and 9 electoral votes.

As McGarrett would say: Be there.  Aloha.

Update: That's 3:00 New Orleans time.

Update2: Here it is in real player format and in windoze media player format.  I start spewing blather at about 12:53 in.

Update 3: Da BBC don't seem to archive their stuff, so those links will give you the most current Newshour, not the one with our intrepid hero. Geh
