For our new government: a reminder.

From Common Dreams, and for Oyster and Mr. Clio:

Here's how the British hold back the waters from flooding

And the Dutch solution to protecting an entire nation that mostly rests below sea level

The Italians are defending their city on the sea, Venice

And the richest, most powerful and technologically advanced nation on earth...

And don't forget this: "The federal government is committed to building the best levee system known in the world," Donald Powell, Katrina reconstruction Czar

So do it, fuckmooks.

Oh, yeah. I remember this thing. It's an all-time classic.

The two pix I posted were supposed to be the Cliff's Notes version of this.

Very well done. Succinct and poignant.

With the money that has seemed to have vanhsied instead of being used for levve contruction many are now rich.

Of course it is not the poeple that the levvees were supposed to protect.

Blue, you are correct. The levees are meant to protect the refineries. But perhaps, thanks to Kuwait and MawMaw, there will now be a bit more for the levees to protect...

And Maitri, if Venice blows it off, maybe we could buy some of their stuff at wholesale!

There goes trent lotts house-o-partying. where will bush go drinking now!

Oh man, that last pic is so sad. That's just a short walk from where my house used to be.

I'm with you, Ashley. The folks in DC are still jerking our chain on funding. Other nations have done it. Are we going to do this or not? Tell us now so we can know whether to cross you off the holiday card list.

Peace,

Tim

Pictures worth 10 thousand words. Unless you're an advanced weapons system, don't expect the government to spend much on you. We need for this to change soon.

Hi, Good work... Thanks
