It's not a revelation. But it's the point I think Ashley was trying to make. The "answer" is sitting right in front of us. We don't need outside consultants. We don't need "task forces." I got kind of flustered being on camera. I misspoke a couple of times. First, my church’s website is fpcno.org instead of “fcpno.org”. Second, although some consider the levee failures examples of criminal negligence, I should have said “immunity from liability”, not “immunity from prosecution”.

I probably misspoke other times, but those are the two most glaring errors in my mind.

I’ll cross-post something like this later, but I’ve got a busy weekend in front of me, so I have to keep this brief (and it is 0435 right now).

Basically, we all sat down and chatted for a little while, and to tell you the truth, I think that the pretext which brought these guys down here was debatable, their mission since arrival has been admirable. They have been talking to a cross-section of people, and they appear to just want to know “what’s going on in New Orleans these days?”

There’s been some bad blood between all of us, and although I understand where and why it began, I think that the pretext for all of this has kind of fallen by the wayside in favor of their new mission.

I regret my posting earlier with some recrimination of these guys, and I will instead withhold judgment until I see their final project. To all of my fellow NOLA residents, I plead that you do the same. For me, at least, having met them personally, I believe that they may crank out a final project that will be very valuable from an anthropological perspective. Let’s all wait, hold off on judgment and harsh words (from this point forward, anyway), and see what happens.
