Stay on their asses
They're still finding bodies. How unfuckingbelievable is that? They're still finding bodies.
We are not Americans. America has totally, completely and summarily abandoned us. This kind of shit has never happened before. Never. And it happened on Bush's watch; that fuckmook is fucking responsible for putting a dipshit in charge of FEMA, and for making it a subsidiary of the ironically named department of homeland security. His administration is responsible for making us beg for the levees which THEY OWN AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR to be repaired. And he goes on vacation.
Nobody in Washington fucking cares.
We are on our own.
So enough of the inflammatory rhetroric...what the hell can we do about it?
1: Sign up with Mr. Clio, and we're going to voluntarily go to every bleeping house left and find out if there are any bodies still here. These people deserve at least that dignity.
2: We know Dollar Bill Jefferson won't be there long. What we need to do is figure out who should be his replacement. Adrastos is afraid that if the alleged front runner, Oliver Thomas, is named, then Fast Eddie Sapir will take Oliver's seat on the city council. I'd suport Oliver as a representative, but we worked hard this last election to get a clean city council, let's keep it.
3: Make sure that the rebuilding is from the bottom up, not the top down. This means that we need to let the citizens who live and want to return to the neighborhoods make the decisions about their neighborhoods, not some artificial committee of power-endowed bureaucrats who don't get it.
Stay on their asses.
Unfortunately I don't share your opinion that Dollar Bill won't be there long. Looks like the wagons are circling up there in DC on both sides. I hope I'm wrong!

I don't think he'll be there long, but even if I'm wrong, there's not too awful much we can do about it. Funny how suddenly, the administration decides to selectively enforce the constitution.

Eddie Sapir can't go back as council at large (fortunately). He just served two terms.
