I really hate it when one person controls the destiny of many.
Think of W sending thousands to their deaths in Iraq, all for the sake of keeping his petro buddies happy.
Now, think of Chris Albrecht, the CEO of HBO, controlling the destiny of The Wire.
Everybody from the Chicago Tribune, to Slate, to LA Weekly, to New York Newsday, to the Boston Herald, to the New York Post, to the San Francisco Examiner to USA Today, to the Detroit News, claims that this is either one of the best, or THE BEST show on television.
Yet all Albrecht can do is bitch about the low ratings.
Hey, I thought it wasn't TV, it was HBO.
Quality was supposed to rule uber alles.
Yet even though it gets better ratings than the abortion that is Carnivale, while up against stiffer competition (the NFL and Desperate Housewives), Albrecht slams it.
Fuck you, Chris.
The critics, almost unanimously, state that The Wire has the best writing, acting, and storyline on television.
Chris, if you burn The Wire, you can take my measly subscription fee and dream on it. Don't think I'm the only one. We will leave in droves, and it won't be to Showtime.
Do the right thing. Don't tell me "We just ask ourselves: Is it different? Is it distinctive? Is it good?". I'll remind you of this if you cancel the show. Bitch.
